An AML (Anti-Money Laundering) check confirms that money used in a property transaction comes from legitimate sources. It helps firms meet legal obligations, reduces financial crime risks, and protects clients and professionals from fraud.
A sanctions check compares client details against international watchlists of restricted individuals or organisations. It ensures property transactions do not involve parties linked to crime or terrorism, keeping firms compliant and protecting clients from legal or reputational risk.
A PEP (Politically Exposed Persons) check identifies individuals holding public roles, or those closely connected to them, who may present higher financial crime risks. If flagged, firms apply enhanced due diligence to keep property transactions compliant and secure.
Adverse media screening reviews global news sources for negative information about an individual or business. It highlights reputational or financial crime risks and provides firms with useful context during compliance checks.
If your check raises concerns, your solicitor or agent will review the details to assess the risk. They may request additional documents or clarification. Once resolved, your transaction can progress securely with compliance requirements satisfied.
